Darren A. Smith, Sr.
1962-2018
Darren Atlee Smith Sr., age 56, of Hancock, Md., passed away at his home on Friday, October 19, 2018.
Born July 5, 1962, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Daniel W. Smith and Beverly L. (Miller) Clark.
He was a retired carpentry contractor.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter of mushrooms, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his family, who were dearly loved and very important to him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy (Iden) Smith; a daughter, Heather Golden and her husband, Greg; a son, Darren A. Smith Jr. and his wife, Lori; four grandchildren, Lakyn, Atlee and Leah Unger, and Skylar Smith; four stepgrandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Bailey Lynch, Gregory Golden III and Trinity Golden; two brothers, Devon and Danny Smith; and two sisters, Cindy Mellott and Sabrina Hann.
A memorial service, to honor him, was held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Orchard Ridge First Church of God, 14128 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, with Pastor Jeff Hawbaker officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were handled by Grove Funeral Home in Hancock.
