Cynda C. Widmyer
1950-2019
Cynda Colleen Widmyer, 68, of Potomac Park, Cumberland, Md., passed away in the early morning of February 16, 2019.
Born on July 24, 1950, in Harrisonburg, Va., she was the daughter of Rev. George S. Widmyer and Lowell Elaine (Bartlett) Widmyer, stepdaughter to Eva (Parker) Widmyer.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother-in- law: Charles Raymond Dayton; and nephew Derek Dayton.
Cynda is survived by her sister: Sharon P. Dayton, Potomac Park; her brothers: Mark L. Widmyer (Linda), LaVale, Md., and George F. Widmyer (Patricia), Berkeley Springs, W.Va. She is also survived by nieces: Cynda Burkett (Ryan), Martinsburg, W.Va., Tiffany Hernandez, Hagerstown, Md., Kari Suthard (Chris), Odenton, Md., Marta Harrigan (Mike), Myersville, Md., Bethany Smith (Russell) Easton, Md., Manda Beck (Brian), Harrisburg, N.C., and Mya Widmyer, Sarasota, Fla.; nephews; Michael Widmyer, Harrisburg, Pa., and Mark Widmyer, II, Potomac Park; in addition to five great nieces and seven great nephews.
Cynda was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1968, and The Scott Cosmetology School.
She worked for Athey’s Beauty Salon in Cumberland for several years before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1977. Cynda then moved to Royse City, Texas, where she managed J.D. Kennels for the last 20+ Years.
She had recently retired and relocated back to Potomac Park.
At Cynda’s request, her body was cremated and a Memorial Service will be on March 23, 2019, at McKendree Church at Potomac Park at 11 a.m., with Rev. Harold McClay, Jr., conducting the service.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude for the wonderful care given by the doctors, nurses and staff of Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
