Council to discuss election changes in special meeting

The Town of Hancock council and mayor will hold a special meeting this Wednesday, January 2 at 7 p.m. to discuss proposed changes to the town charter.

An agenda for the meeting notes that Town Manager David Smith will present the wording of a proposed change that would affect the dates of town elections in the future. Town officials will discuss how changing the dates of future town elections will impact other sections of the town charter and the current and new terms of town offices.

Town officials will also discuss the lighted sign at Town Hall. The Police Commissioners will also provide a committee report.

A special town meeting will also be held on February 11, the date that terms will expire for Mayor Ralph Salvagno and councilmen Levi Little and Tim Smith. New terms will begin then for the winners of the January 28 town election.

The next regular meeting of the Hancock council will be held on January 9 at Town Hall.
