A St. Albans company has been selected as the contractor for a 78-room addition to the Cacapon State Park lodge and a host of other planned upgrades at the park.
Paramount Builders submitted the low bid of $25.38 million in late July. Only two contractors submitted a proposal in the third round of bidding for the project. Previous bids were rejected because they exceeded the $25 million budget for the expansion, which was poised to begin in 2013 before financing fell through.
The park upgrades, which also include an indoor pool, new dining room, lounge and spa, will be paid for through Excess Lottery proceeds. A new wing with the new rooms will be added on the north end of the existing lodge. Paramount’s construction bid also included upgrades to the current lodge.
Work is expected to take at least two years to complete. Superintendent Scott Fortney said he didn’t know when construction work would begin at the park or when a groundbreaking ceremony might be held.
