Morgan County Commissioners voted unanimously on February 8 to offer the post of 911 Director to Ronald Mason at a starting salary of $35,000 plus benefits. Mason has accepted the position, and will start work on March 11, confirmed County Administrator Stefanie Allemong. She said Mason is a former State Police officer.
The 911 Director post has been vacant since November 2018, following the firing of Zachary Caldwell.
Deputy 911 Director Sarah Hogbin has been serving as the 911 center’s Acting Director during a search for a new director.
Assessments, budget
In other business, commissioners held five meetings as the Board of Equalization this month to hear disputes over property value assessments. Corrections to values are made in February so that the Assessor can present an accurate report of the value of property in the county ahead of budget preparation in March.
Morgan County elected officials will present budgets for each of their offices to the Morgan County Commission at their next meeting on Wednesday, March 6. County officials will hold special budget preparation meetings on March 11 and March 13.
Commissioners will sign the county’s 2019-2020 fiscal year budget at their March 20 meeting.
