Clarence E. McBee
1924-2020
Clarence Edward McBee, 95, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at his residence.
Born July 17, 1924 in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Harry Monroe and Ella Virginia Sipes McBee.
He was a member of Trinity-Asbury United Methodist Church.
He attended Spohrs Crossroads School.
He served with the United States Army during World War II, where he was awarded the Army Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
He worked in the body shop at Kirk Ford and was a self-employed auto body repairman.
After his retirement, he was an avid woodworker.
He was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 and AARP.
He was a self-taught musician, liked working on vehicles, building and restoring furniture.
He is survived by his children, Edward McBee, Front Royal, Va., Penny Long, Hedgesville and Dale McBee, McLean, Va.; one sister, Ethel McCoy, Hagerstown, Md. and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Swaim McBee on September 2, 2013; one son, Tony McBee; one sister, Dora Johnson and two brothers, Elmer McBee and Henry McBee, Sr.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 29 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs. Pastors Donald Dick, Sr. and Chuck Bergen officiated.
Interment with military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard was in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
