A suspicious early morning April 16 structure fire at 3394 Cherry Run Road is currently under investigation by West Virginia Assistant Fire Marshal George Harms as suspected arson. Harms is asking the public for their help and information regarding the fire.
Harms said that the fire involved an outbuilding across from a home and that no one was injured in the fire. Since the fire is under investigation, he couldn’t release any other information at this time.
Anyone with information about this arson fire can either contact the West Virginia Arson Hotline at 1-800-233-FIRE (1-800-233-3473) or the Morgan County-Berkeley Springs Crimes Solvers at 304-258-2450.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those involved.
The fire call came in at 1:44 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, said Sarah Hogbin from the Morgan County 911 Dispatch Center. Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Company arrived first on the scene at 2:04 a.m. Everyone got safely out and there were no injuries.
Units that responded to the fire included Berkeley Springs, Great Cacapon, South Morgan, Hancock, Hedgesville, Clear Spring and Bedington Volunteer Fire Companies. The last unit left the scene at 2:45 a.m.
Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Company was in charge of the fire scene. Their officials could not be reached for more information.
