Charles R. Umphrey
1936-2019
Charles R. Umphrey, 82, of Hedgesville, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Inova Hospital in Fairfax, Va.
Born December 13, 1936 in Sweetwater, Tenn., he was the son of the late Charles Lewis Umphrey and Maddie Vairs Umphrey.
He was a retired mechanic at Mike’s Muffler and had previously worked at Joe Cobles both of Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by his wife Alice Jones Umphrey, Hedgesville; one daughter, Charlotte Umphrey of Tennesse; five sons, Joshua Umphrey, Hedgesville, Chuck Umphrey, Satsuma, Fla., John Umphrey, Martinsburg, Ralph Umphrey of Tennessee and Christopher Montgomery, Mansfield, Ohio and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Hooper, Nevida Cook and Nila Thomas.
Arrangements were handled by Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Berkeley Springs.
