Charles Glendon “Andy” Anderson, Sr., age 87, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at his home.

Born June 3, 1932 at Spohrs Crossroads, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clarence Henry, Sr. and Nannie Ellen Mason Anderson.

He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at Spohrs Crossroads.

He was a 1950 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.

Glendon served with the U.S. Army from December 9, 1952 until his honorable discharge at the rank of Corporal on November 22, 1954. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60.

Glendon first worked as a deliveryman with Berkeley Club Beverages, then with the B&O Railroad. He retired in 1985 as a supervisor with Potomac River Works, later known as E. I. Dupont.

He loved squirrel hunting, fishing, having yard sales and attending auctions.

Glendon is survived by his wife of 64 years, Blanche Louise Lynch Anderson, at home; his daughter, Sherry Dee Moats and her husband Bill of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Angela Anderson McBee of Hancock, Md.; two great grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Glendon Anderson, Jr.; his sister, Goldie Marie Anderson Hovermale and his brother, Clarence Henry Anderson, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Tony Pirrone officiating. Interment with military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The funeral home will open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
