Boyd L. Fletcher

1930-2019

Boyd Leon Fletcher, age 89, of Little Orleans, Md., passed away on August 13, 2019 at the Western Maryland Health System, in Cumberland Md.

Born in Little Orleans, February 12, 1930, he was the son of the late Phillip H. and Etta (Price) Fletcher; and the husband of Delma Mae (Miller) Fletcher, whom he married March 1, 1954.

He attended the Buck Valley New Testament Church, in Warfordsburg, Pa.

He served with the US Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict, and he was employed by the C&O Canal National Park Service from 1960 until 1990 and retired after 30 years.

In addition to his wife, Boyd is survived by a special niece, Carol (Fletcher) Riggleman and her husband, Robert of Little Orleans; their three daughters, Bobbie Jo Visco of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Annette Yonker and Misti Kerns, both of Little Orleans; a special nephew, Allan Fletcher and his wife, Wilma, of Little Orleans; a sister, Reba Munson; and a brother, Aaron Fletcher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clem Fletcher, Phillip Fletcher and Allan Fletcher; four sisters, Iona Creek, Valna Purnell, Margaret Fields, and Grace Norma Lee Creek.

The family received friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Md., on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 5 until 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m., at the Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Trail officiated. Burial followed in the Fairview Christian cemetery, in Artemas, Pa. with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard. Following the services, family and friends gathered at the Orleans Volunteer Fire Department.
