1939-2019

Betty Geraldine Foster, age 79, of Williamsport, Md., passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Doey’s House, in Hagerstown, Md.

Born December 10, 1939, in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late John Wilson Dyer, Sr. and Alma Geraldine (Banard) Dyer.

She was a graduate of Hancock High School with the class of 1958.

She had previously been employed with Daycare facilities.

Betty was a very compassionate person who gave her heart and soul to helping other people; and she loved butterflies, playing Bingo and reading.

She is survived by one son, William J. Foster, of Germantown, Md.; two sisters, Ina M. Potter and her husband, Cecil, of Hancock, and Janet L. Truax, of Williamsport; one brother, John Dyer, of Hagerstown, Md.; three grandchildren, Tyler W. Foster, Alyssa D. Foster, and Deanna F. Foster, all of Germantown, Md.; one great-granddaughter, Xoey Foster, of Hagerstown, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce D. Dyer; and a brother-in-law, Ray M. Truax.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at 11 a.m., at the Hancock Presbyterian Church. Rev. Terry Martin-Minnich officiated. Burial followed in the Rehoboth United Methodist Cemetery, on Great Cove Rd., in Needmore, Pa.

The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the start of services on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Hancock Presbyterian Church, 17 East Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750.
