A single-vehicle motor vehicle accident in the 5000 block of Martinsburg Road on Tuesday, October 8 claimed the life of a Berkeley Springs man. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department said Warren Bishop Jr., 79, of Camp Harmison Lane died after his Chevy pickup overturned Tuesday morning. Police said Bishop lost control of his vehicle on the roadway.
The accident was reported at 9:48 a.m. by a passing motorist. The caller reported the pickup truck was resting on its top and had struck a tree. Morgan County 911 dispatched emergency responders to a location near Cain Lane.
Roadways were wet on Tuesday morning following a day of rain.
Deputy Dennis Jenkins of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department is the lead investigator of the crash.
Bishop is the sixth person to die from a motor vehicle accident on Morgan County roads in 2019.
