Kayley Paige Brinegar is the 2019 Berkeley Springs High School Valedictorian.
She is the daughter of Chad and Charity Brinegar.
She will be attending West Virginia University in the fall as a Bucklew Scholar to study biochemistry with a possible minor in philosophy.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she would like to either attend medical school or go on to earn her master’s and doctoral degrees in genetic engineering to conduct research on immunology and/or genetic pathology.
While in high school, Brinegar ran cross country all four years, track for two years and played basketball for one year.
She was a member of the National Honors Society, Science National Honors Society, Student Council, Rotary Interact Club, Community Cougars and InspireWV.
Katie Caperton is the Salutatorian for Berkeley Springs High School.
She is the daughter of Susan and Gat Caperton.
Throughout her high school career, she ran cross country and track and was a member of the 2015 State Championship Cross Country Team.
She was a member of the band and drumline and Morgan County Community Band.
She was president of the Student Council, Rotary Interact, Community Cougars, Morgan County Teen Court and class president for Freshman and Sophomore years. She was the captain of the BSHS Envirothon Team and placed fifth in the State Envirothon competition. She was vice president of the Science National Honors Society, parliamentarian of the National Honors Society and involved with the Inspire Club.
She is an AP Scholar with Honor and placed first in the Morgan County Math Field Day Competition.
She will be attending Bates College to pursue a double major in Environmental Studies and Political Science.
