Berkeley Springs High School goes back to remote learning again

by Kate Evans

All Berkeley Springs High School students returned to remote learning for the rest of the week beginning on Wednesday, March 24 after school officials were notified of two additional high school COVID-19 cases late Tuesday.  All extra-curricular activities at the high school are cancelled until further notice.

Officials said in an online posting that they had to take these steps to prevent further spread of the virus.  Parents should contact the school nurse for guidance if their child shows any symptoms of illness.

The move to remote learning and suspension of all extra-curricular activities is only for Berkeley Springs High School.

School Superintendent Kristen Tuttle said that as of the end of Wednesday, March 24  there are eight high school students that are positive for COVID-19 as well as  one person who is associated with Berkeley Springs High School but is not a teacher or full-time staff.

Contact tracing has been completed for all the positive individuals.  Tuttle said that most people that were impacted were already in quarantine.
