Berkeley Springs High School baseball falls to Frankfort and East Fairmont

The Berkeley Springs High School Indians Baseball Team played three games last week twice against Frankfort and once against East Fairmont. However, the Tribe could not pick up a win in any of the three.

The Indians hosted the Frankfort Falcons at Morgan Field on Monday, May 17. Both teams battled to a 0-0 score after four innings of play. In the top of the fifth inning the Falcons took a 4-0 lead. Berkeley Springs battled back with four runs of their own to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game remained 4-4 after seven innings of play. In the eighth inning the Falcons scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to secure the 6-4 win.

Berkeley Springs was led by Evan Thompson (run), Chance Swink (run and RBI), Carson Stotler (double and two RBIs), Nathan Guzick (single and RBI), Logan Whitmore (run) and Caleb Stotler (run).

The Indians hit the road to Frankfort for a doubleheader with the Falcons and the East Fairmont Bees on Saturday, May 22.

In game one against East Fairmont the Tribe struggled to score runs as the Bees took the 7-0 win. Carson Stotler and Swink supplied the only hits for Berkeley Springs.

In the nightcap the Indians and Falcons squared off again and this one turned into a run fest. Berkeley Springs jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning. The Tribe pushed the lead to 6-0 with two runs in the top of the third inning. Frankfort came right back with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning to go up 7-6. The Falcons then scored 11 runs from the fifth inning on to hold off the Indians for the 18-10 win.

The Tribe was led by Thompson (two runs), Swink (single, double, two runs and RBI), Cole Oursler (double, run and RBI), Caleb Stotler (double, run, and RBI), Jordan Miller (two singles, double, two runs and RBI) and Tyler Barney (single and run).
