Jackson Mundey finishes 4th

Cacapon State Park hosted the 2019 Potomac Valley Conference Cross Country Championships last Tuesday, October 15. The challenging 3.1 mile course is designed to challenge the runners and the teams that were participating.
On the girls side Berkeley Springs High School finished in fourth place with a score of 80. Frankfort took home the team title.
The Lady Indians were running without junior Taylor Mason and senior Kierstyn Wise and this hurt the team scores. However, the Lady Indians got an outstanding performance from Belle Harvey. The talented junior runner who has been battling injuries all season finished in second place with a time of 23:39. Berkeley Springs also got a standout performance from senior Hannah Moran who finished in 10th place with a time of 25:37.60.
Leah Reed (22nd place, 29:00), Rebecca Moran (43rd place, 34:40) and Sam Herbst (46th place, 36:25) rounded out the scoring for Berkeley Springs.
Over on the boy’s side, the Indians finished in third place with 69 points while Frankfort just dominated the meet and took home the team championship with a score of 19.
Berkeley Springs was led by freshman Jackson Mundey who finished in fourth place with a time of 19:47.40. Fellow freshman Aiden Carpenter gave the Tribe a second top winner with his 15th place finish with a time of 21:37.50.
Jacob Rough (20th place, 22:16), Landon Riggleman (22nd place, 22:33), Tim Develing (23rd place, 22:36), Isaac Harris (26th place, 23:01), Josiah Kowalski (27th place, 23:04), Trent Ao (31st place, 23:36), Josh Torres (33rd place, 23:49), Dalton Weller (43rd place, 25:14), Haden Fincham (47th place, 26:24), Caden Gates (51st place, 28:56) and Brett Shoemaker (52nd place, 31:02) rounded out the runners for Berkeley Springs.
Paw Paw had three runners who turned in good performances as Gibson Fravel (40th place, 24:46), Dylan Moreland (44th place, 25:15) and Coby Ridgeway (46th place, 26:00) led the way.
Next up for Berkeley Springs and Paw Paw is the Class AA Region I Championships this coming Thursday, October 24 at West Taylor Elementary School located in Grafton. The girl’s race starts at 4 p.m. and the boys will follow at 4:40 p.m.
