1932-2019

Barbara Marie Kurtz, 86, of Denton, Md., died on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the Arcadia of Denton Assisted Living in Denton.

Born October 15, 1932 in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Stephen and Barbara Marie Warner Wentworth.

She and her husband, Carl John Kurtz, Jr., were married on June 26, 1954.

She was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church.

She graduated from Catonsville High School in Catonsville, Md.

She had worked for the Baltimore Life Insurance Co. and the B&O Railroad as a key punch operator. She had also worked in food service at the Broadneck High School.

She was a homemaker and liked to cook, quilt and sing.

In 1996, she and her husband moved to West Virginia where they retired.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynda Kary, Bethel, Del. and Barbara Ayres, Annapolis, Md.; one son, David Kurtz, Arnold, Md.; one sister, Mary Wentworth Hawkins, Westminster, Md.; one brother, Richard Wentworth, Baltimore; seven grandchildren, David Kurtz, Stephen Kary, James Ayres, Daniel Kurtz, Nicholas Kary, Dustin Kurtz and Jonathan Ayres; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl John Kurtz, Jr. on July 29, 2013; one sister, Gladys Stevens and two brothers, Clarence Wentworth and Earl Wentworth.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 19 at 11 a.m. at Greenwood United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs with Pastor Lloyd McCanna officiating. Inurnment will be in the adjoining church Cemetery in Greenwood Grove Cemetery.
