Apple Butter road closures approved

At the September 3 meeting, the Bath Town Council approved road closures during the 46th Annual Apple Butter Festival on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13. The request was made by the local Chamber of Commerce, the organization in charge of the yearly festival.

For the parade on Saturday, October 12 from 8:45-10 a.m., roads will be closed on U.S. 522 between Myers Road and George Street, on Concord Avenue, on Myers Road between Concord Avenue and Washington Street, on Williams Street from Washington Street to Harrison Avenue, and on Broadway Street between Concord Avenue and Washington Street.

“We will have traffic enforcement personnel at both ends of the parade route and at street crossings in between,” Lori Hansroth, executive director of the local Chamber of Commerce, added in the request.

On Saturday, October 12 from 8 a.m. until Sunday, October 13 to 5 p.m., roads will be closed for vendor set-ups on Fairfax Street and Independence Street between Wilkes and Mercer streets and on Congress Street between Washington and Mercer streets.

During the festival, Mercer Street (between Fairfax and Independence streets) will become one way southbound and Green Street will become one way northbound.
