Anna C. Riggleman
1924-2020
Anna Catherine “Katie” Riggleman, age 96, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born October 10, 1924 in Moorefield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Amos Ray and Anna Susan Burns Walters.
She was of the Baptist faith. She attended the Walnut Bottom School in Kessel, W.Va.
She had been a housekeeper and loved to play bingo and cards. She enjoyed watching game shows and “Westerns.”
Surviving are her children, Richard Elwood Youngquist of Martinsburg, W.Va., Walter Houston, Anna Dale McClintock, Catherine Lorraine Cox and Ernie M. Riggleman, all of Berkeley Springs, Larry E. Riggleman of Clear Spring, Md., Richard E. Riggleman of Wake Forest, N.C. and Nora Lynn Gantt of Hustontown, Pa.; one brother, Lawrence Walters of Flat Rock, Mich.; 31 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loring Emerson “Short” Riggleman; two sons, Garry Riggleman and Arnold Lee Bearup; four sisters, Dorothy Barr, Mary Susan Eye, Helen Walters and Betty Mendolia; four brothers, Albert, Amos, Gene, Paul Walters; one granddaughter, Janelle Collins and two great-grandsons, David Edwards and Logan Kiser.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Old Fields Baptist Church, 5406 US 220, Old Fields, W.Va., with Pastor Dan Howard officiating. Interment was in the Newhouse Cemetery, Rig, W.Va.
The family received friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
