Accident cut off Frontier phone, internet, 911 last week

A vehicle crash five miles east of Romney on Jersey Mountain Road last Wednesday cut off Frontier phone, internet and 911 service to parts of at least five counties, including Morgan County. Service to customers wasn’t fully restored until Sunday, the company said.

On November 21 at roughly 5 a.m., a vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Hampshire County. The impact broke four poles and cut fiber-optic and copper cables, said Frontier spokeswoman Emily Tantare.

Crews started working on the scene immediately. Frontier service was cut to customers in Mineral, Hampshire, Berkley, Jefferson, Morgan Counties and the Potomac Highlands Region.

The company said all 911 services and internet were restored by Wednesday evening. It took until Sunday for all landline phone service to customers to be fully restored.

Residents of Paw Paw reported that they were unable to use 911 during the day on Wednesday, and some were still not able to make out-of-area calls through Thanksgiving.
