<p>Last Wednesday, April 26 the Paw Paw Pirates track and field team traveled to Keyser for the Potomac Valley Conference Division II Championships. The Division II field featured East Hardy, Tucker County, Tygart Valley, Petersburg, Pendleton County, Pocahontas County, Paw Paw and Union.</p>
<p>On the boys’ side the Pi- rates finished in fifth place with 54 points. East Hardy (145), Tygart Valley (86), Pocahontas County (82) and Pendleton County (57). Paw Paw was led by sophomore standout Dominic Tanouye who had a career day as a track athlete. Tanouye picked up three first place finishes in the long jump (17’6 1/4”), 800 meters (2:14) and the 1600 meters (4:53). Tanouye then teamed with Andrew Harrold, Andrew Gilberto and Dreden Heath to finish third in the 4&#215;100 meter relay with a time of 52.46.</p>
<p>Senior Dalton Kasekamp finished his final PVC track and field tournament with an impressive first place win in the discus. Kasekamp heaved 142’7” to capture the PVC title. In the shot put, Kasekamp finished in second place with a throw of 46’7.”</p>
<p>On the girls’ side the Lady Pirates finished in sixth place with 43.5 points. East Hardy <span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">(123), Tucker County (77), Tygart Valley (73), Petersburg (68) and Pocahontas County (64) rounded out the top five teams.</span></p>

<p>ters (29.85), long jump (14’3 1/4”) along with a sixth-place finish in the 100 meters (14.55). Freshman Shayla Tanouye finished in second place in the 400 meters (1:08.35), fourth in the 100- meter hurdles (18.49), fourth in high jump (4’4”), and sixth in the long jump (13’6 1/2”). Miah Smith finished in third place in the long jump with a distance of 13’11.” Myley Mullins finished in fourth place in the shot put with a throw of 27’9.”</p>

<p>This past Saturday, February 4, at East Hardy High School the Potomac V alley Conference Wrestling Championships were held. Berkeley Springs, East Hardy, Frankfort, Hampshire, Keyser, Moorefield and Petersburg were set to battle it out to crown the 2023 individual and team champions. This year’ s event was a round robin for each weight class except 138 (had seven wrestlers) and the Indians were ready to battle.</p>
<p>Berkeley Springs captured six individual wrestling championships and had 13 of 14 wrestlers place in the top three of their respective weight classes to pave the way to their fourth straight <span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">PVC team title.</span></p>

<p>The Indians were led by their two senior wrestlers Isaac Harris (150) and Gabe Clark (175) who dominated their weight classes en route to their fourth straight PVC title each.</p>
<p>Harris started his run to a fourth title with a 15-0 tech fall win over Hampshire’ s Levi Richman. In his second match Harris pinned Moore- field’s Dylan Colasessano in 37 second. In his third match Harris pinned Keyser’ s Daniel Shoemaker in 1:50. In the final match of the day Harris picked up a dominating 19-2 tech fall win over East Hardy’ s Tyler Tarallo. Harris (35-6) was named one of the two PVC Most Out- standing Wrestlers.</p>

<p>Not to be outdone Clark was a pin machine for the Tribe. In his first match Clark pinned Eli Mathias (East Hardy) in 37 seconds. In his second match Clark pinned Sterling Friend (Frankfort) in 36 seconds. In his third match Clark pinned Waylon Paugh (Keyser) in 1:00. In his final match of the day Clark pinned Jonathan Moreland (Hampshire) in 1:01.</p>

<p>Morgan won his first PVC title with pins over Landon Hess (East Hardy) in 2:20 and over Gavin Corwell (Frankfort) in 1:58.</p>

<p>Sullivan won his first PVC title at the 157 lb. weight class. Sullivan picked up a 12-4 major decision over Theodore Gallahan (Moorefield). In his second match Sullivan pinned Hampshire’s Landon Cross in 26 seconds. In his final match Sullivan won 15-0 tech fall over Keyser’s Landon Rhodes.</p>
<p>Zombro won his second PVC title with a pin over Jesse Saldierna (Hampshire) in 25 seconds. In his second match Zombro pinned Jonah Funkhouser (East Hardy) in 10 seconds. In his third match Zombro pinned Dalton Alt (Moorefield) in 12 seconds. In the final match of the day Zombro picked up a 1-0 decision <span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">over Keyser&#8217;s Logan Rotruck.</span></p>

<p>Brady Wilt won his first PVC title starting with an 18- 2 tech fall win over Malacia Goodwater (Hampshire). In his second match Wilt pinned James Shipe (East Hardy) in 48 seconds. In this third match Wilt pinned Earl Wyman (Moorefield) in 51 seconds. In his final match of the day, Wilt won by a 7-0 decision over Keyser’s Jake Anderson.</p>
<p>Finishing second for the Indians were Eligah Parsell (106), Daniel Clark (113), and Krystian Norris (190). Finishing in third place for the Indians were Ayden Laird (126), Aiden Cain (138), Chase Stotler (144), and DeMario Cook (285).</p>
