Man revived in courthouse lot

Two Sheriff’s department officers revived a man suffering a medical emergency last Wednesday, January 31 near the county courthouse.

The 63-year-old man, who was later transported to Winchester Medical Center, had collapsed in the lot behind BB&T bank.

Cpl. Kevin Barney and Court Security Officer Todd Peer were alerted to the emergency and immediately gave medical aid, starting CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) from the first floor of the courthouse, said Sheriff K.C. Bohrer in a press release last week.

“Chief Paramedic Mike Jenkins contacted me this afternoon to tell me a man is alive and well in the hospital do to the life saving efforts of these two men,” said Sheriff Bohrer.
