Wavy P. Payne


Wavy Pearl Spielman Payne, 82, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Berkeley Medical Center.

Born September 26, 1935 in Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late Alston and Mary Ann Shipaway Spielman.

She was a Christian.

She attended school in Berkeley Springs.

She had worked for the orchards in Pennsylvania when she was younger and lastly had worked for Cacapon State Park in housekeeping.

She liked raising chickens and gardening.

She is survived by her companion, David Shoemaker; four daughters, Pansy Truitt, Williamsport, Md., Bonnie Riffle, Gerrardstown, Nellie McDonald, Xenia, Ohio and Gabriella Shore of Australia; one son, Sylvester Payne, Berkeley Springs; one sister, Carrie Mclhinney, Oakland, Md.; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Elma Spielman, Ethel McGurie, Loretta Yost and Loureen Porter and four brothers, Robert, Virgil, Avery and Rodwell Spielman.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 3 at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Doug Hoffman officiated. Burial was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
