The Garrett College wrestling program signed their first Berkeley Springs High School wrestler on Thursday, January 18 as senior Davy Mundey signed to wrestle for the Lakers and Head Coach John Chambers.

Mundey who is nearing the West Virginia state record of 217 individual wins is part of a huge recruiting coup for Garrett College. Mundey’s 207-29 career mark also includes a current record of 43- 1 this season.

“Davy Mundey is the face of our program in West Virginia, which will hopefully lead more West Virginia recruits to come to Garrett College,” stated Chambers. “He’s pound for pound one of the top wrestlers in the state of West Virginia.”

Mundey who is the defending Class A/AA Region I champion was also the Class A/AA state runner up last season at 145 lbs., also runs cross country and competes in the pole vault for the Berkeley Springs High School track team. Mundey will be looking into a career in health care.
