Acts wanted for first “Morgan County Has Talent” event

The Morgan County Partnership is collaborating with BlackCat Music Cooperative to create an entertaining community event to showcase local talent and to celebrate community. The groups are calling on singers, dancers, instrumentalists, comedians, actors, magicians and others to videotape their act and upload it to the Morgan County Partnership YouTube page from February 14 to 28.

Performers will be selected based on these videos and will then be welcomed to audition live for a panel of judges. Live auditions will begin March 1. The final show will be on Saturday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at Berkeley Springs High School auditorium.

In addition to supporting local talent, this event will also serve as a fundraiser for the Morgan County Partnership and the BlackCat Music Cooperative. Both of these non-profit organizations work to build the necessary building blocks for positive youth development.

Research has shown that the more developmental assets a child possesses, the less likely they are to engage in risk-taking behaviors such as alcohol and drug abuse. With the dramatic increases in drug abuse in our community, it is more important than ever to prevent the most vulnerable population — the youth — from starting down a destructive path.
