Tree ID at Eidolon

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will offer a winter tree-identification field trip at its Eidolon Nature Preserve in Morgan County on Thursday, February 1.

Rodney Dever, a member of the West Virginia Native Plant Society, will lead the trip. He will show how to identify trees through such clues as their branching habits and overall shape, twigs, buds and bark.

Participants will meet at 10 a.m. at the Preserve's gate at 2146 Orleans Road.

There is no fee and anyone with an interest is welcome to attend. This is intended as a family-friendly event and children are welcome.

Pre-registration is recommended, but not required. To register, go to www.potomacaudubon.org. For more information, contact Krista Hawley at adultprograms@potomacaudubon.org or 703-303-1026.

The total time of the trip will be about two hours.

If the weather is inclement on the day of the trip, it will be rescheduled to Friday, February 16.
