The Indians had a pair of games against sectional competition that wins in both would put them in the driver’s seat for sectional playoffs next month. However, one of those games did not go as planned.

The Tribe traveled to Keyser for a showdown with the Golden Tornado last Wednesday, January 10. Berkeley Springs jumped out to a 34-14 halftime lead. However, in the second half Keyser made a comeback as the Indians made some very uncharacteristic turnovers to allow Keyser to eventually take the 55-52 win.

Senior Colin Breeden led the Indians with 17 points while junior Ethan Barkley had 15 points.

The Indians hosted the Frankfort Falcons in a makeup game from a previous weather postponement on Saturday, January 13.

Berkeley Springs had a strong first quarter outscoring the Falcons 15-8. In the second quarter, the Indians outscored Frankfort 14-9.

In the second half, Frankfort started to make a run at the Indians, but instead of fading as they did a few nights before the Tribe responded.

The offense got rolling as the Indians outscored the Falcons 20-14 by the end of the third period. In the fourth period, the Tribe continued to score and eventually secured the 65-45 win. With the win the Indians improved to 6-3 for the season.

The Indians were led by Barkley who scored 19 points. Breeden added 14 points, Mason Sipe had 11 points, Nathan Mason had eight points, Ty’Jae Armstrong had seven points, Ayden Lackey had four points and Nathan Osborn had two points.

The JV Indians went 0-2 for the week with a pair of losses to Keyser and Frankfort.

Against Keyser the JV Indians fell 54-48 as Hunter DuVall led the junior varsity team with 11 points while Larry Miller (nine points), Luke Spielman (eight points), Nathan Bland (seven points), Trenton Kyne (six points), Cameron King (four points), and Cody Fisher (three points) all scored.

Against Frankfort the JV Indians fell by the score of 76-40. DuVall once again led the JV Indians with 13 points while Spielman (nine points) and Fisher (seven points) added to the point total.

The Indians hosted the Hancock Panthers last night Tuesday, January 16. Then they will be back in action on Friday, January 19 when they travel to Petersburg for a contest with the Vikings.
