Varsity boys win two more over Clarke County & Faith Christian

The Berkeley Springs High School Indians Varsity Boys Basketball Team picked up two more wins last week to improve their record to 3-1 for the season.

The Indians traveled to Clarke County for a contest with the Eagles on Wednesday, December 13 and came away with an impressive win (stats were not available for the Clarke County game). Then the Tribe hosted Faith Christian and steamrolled their way to a 79-56 win on Friday, December 15.

The contest with Faith Christian was the nightcap of a triple header of basketball action.

The early game saw the Indians JV team roll to a 46-20 win behind 10 points from Cody Fisher. The JV Indians jumped out to an 8-3 lead after the first quarter. By halftime the lead had grown to 17-12. In the second half the JV Indians put the game away with a 29-8 run.

Also scoring for the Berkeley Springs JV team were Austin Crouse (seven), Trenton Kyne (six), Luke Spielman (six), Dominic Rider (six), Larry Miller (four), Carson Stotler (four) and Hunter Duvall (three).

The second game of the triple header saw the BSHS Lady Indians win their game of the season with a rout of Faith Christian.

In the nightcap game the Tribe was looking to extend its winning streak to three straight games.

Berkeley Springs jumped out to a 22-15 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Indians pushed the score to 34-24 at the halftime buzzer.

In the third quarter the Tribe came out hot outscoring Faith Christian 29-22 to keep a 63-46 lead. In the final quarter the Indians kept wearing down Faith Christian and finished the game outscoring the visitors 16-10 to take the 79-56 win.

Leading the Indians in scoring was Mason Sipes (22), Colin Breeden (17), Ethan Barkley (15), Ty’Jae Armstrong (11) and Nathan Mason (seven).

Next up for the Indians is a home contest with the Petersburg Vikings on Friday, December 22. The JV game will tip off at 6 p.m. and the varsity game will follow at 7:30 p.m.
