Dale E. Bell


Dale Eugene Bell, 87, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Extended Care Facility of War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.

Born June 29, 1930 in Huntingdon, Pa., he was the son of the late Dale Gilbert and Alice Dora Sharp Bell.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he had served as treasurer, Sunday school superintendent and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

He was a 1947 graduate of the Girard College for Boys in Philadelphia, Pa. and retired in 1994 as a payroll manager with U.S. Silica.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 in Berkeley Springs.

He was active with Morgan County Little League for many years and volunteered with MCIEC. In addition to his many duties at church, he liked golfing.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Arlene Harden Bell, at home; two children, Ann Bell, Berkeley Springs and Keith Bell, Smithsburg, Md.; two step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vivian “Jane” Bodie, Ann Davis and Nan Grassmyer and one step granddaughter.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 10 at First United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs. Rev. Doug Hoffman officiated. Interment with military honors was provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard in Greenway Cemetery.
