Amy F. Stafford

1932-2017

Amy Francis McIntyre Stafford, 85, of Berkeley Springs, formerly of Ashland, Ken., died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at The Berkeley Springs Center, LLC.

Born April 2, 1932 in Kansas City, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Cornelius, Sr. and Henrietta Lewen McIntyre.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Ashland.

She was a graduate of Ashland High School and played in the 1948 Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. She participated in many community bands. She was a music union member.

She earned her Bachelor of Art’s degree in Music from Marshall University, Huntington. She taught instrumental marching bands in Rockhill, Ohio Jr. High, Worthington, Ken. High School, Holy Family Middle School, Ashland, Winfield Middle School in West Virginia and Jamaica Girls School, Montego Bay, Jamaica.

She liked the symphony, orchestral performances, reading and sewing. She made many Easter outfits for her children.

She is survived by her children, Sherry Stafford-Loeb, Berkeley Springs, Melody Martin, Nyssa, Ore., Jan Stafford of Tennessee and Valerie Rice, Catlettsburg, Ken.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Dan Stafford and Mary Conn-Smith.

Services and interment will be private.
