Coach Holly Palmer enters the 2017-18 varsity girls basketball season with seven players suiting up in the red and black Lady Pirate uniforms. Paw Paw lost seniors Amanda Benson and Mariah Rodriguez to graduation last year, but return six players who saw a lot of minutes on the hardwood.

Returning players for Paw Paw are Megan Brown, Elizabeth Henderson, Courtney Moreland, Marissa Moreland, Maristy Crosco and Hana Hendrickson. Janae Hott is the new Lady Pirate basketball player for Coach Palmer.

“Despite returning six players we are still a fairly young team. The biggest asset is the fact all these girls are about the same height, so everyone will be able to play every position if need be,” stated Palmer.

The Lady Pirates will be playing in the WVHIT (West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament) where we will be playing other public Single A teams in West Virginia. Then in February we will travel to Charleston for the playoffs.

Paw Paw opened the 2017- 2018 season with a game at Union on December 1 and on December 5 they traveled to Pendleton County.
