Wade D. Kesecker


Wade Damon Kesecker, 86, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born March 17, 1931 at home in Spruce Pine Hollow, Morgan County, he was the son of the late Henry “Sonny” and Evelyn Risinger Kesecker.

He was a member of the Independent Church of God in Hedgesville.

He was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Shepherd College and a Master’s Degree in special education from West Virginia University at Morgantown.

He began his teaching career at Pleasant View School and then taught history and special education at Berkeley Springs High School.

He was also a contractor, building many houses in the area.

He liked hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie Loraine Schofield Cockrell Kesecker, at home; three children, Belinda Hensley, Newburgh, Ind., Kevin Kesecker, Romney and Tara Kesecker-Kyne, Hedgesville; one sister, Joy Unger, Berkeley Springs; five grandchildren, Stephen Taylor, Wade Hovermale and Crystal Benson, all of Berkeley Springs, Melissa Kesecker, Hedgesville and Nicole Kesecker, Martinsburg; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Marie Annette Miller Kesecker; one sister, Bonnie Parker and five brothers, Morris, Cameron, Bernard “Mack,” Bradley and an infant, Fred Kesecker.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 28 at The Independent Church of God, Hedgesville. Pastor Lynnie and Ada Ambrose officiated. Interment was in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
