Middle schoolers raise funds for juvenile diabetes efforts

Led by seventh grade teacher, track coach, and wellness group member Amber Emery, 460 students and their teachers, walked a half mile near and around the school to raise awareness for Juvenile Diabetes. Participants surpassed the $300 donation goal with $460.

Each donation entitled each student to have their names printed on a walking shoe outside of their respective classrooms. The walk was held Friday, November 3.

The Wellness Focus Group, under Principal Gene Brock, and Assistant Principal Vanessa Fox, are filled with fun ideas for overall wellness this school year. Members are Carmela Emerson, BSN/RN, Susan Clark, Tony McKee, Brandy Stotler, Tony McDonald, Emery, Lori Blackburn, Matthew Griffith and Dale McCumbee.
