William H. McCumbee, Jr.


William Hollis “Jumbo” McCumbee, Jr., 68, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Extended Care Facility of War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.

Born September 12, 1949 at War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late William Hollis McCumbee, Sr. and Edith Virginia Mencer McCumbee Fitch.

He was a member of the Berkeley Springs Church of Christ.

He was a 1967 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and first worked at Vanguard Products on the assembly line.

He then worked as a fuel truck delivery person with Pargas, Newbraugh’s Supply and Roach Oil. Prior to his retirement, he worked in auto sales with Mill Creek Motors, Bunker, Hill, W.Va.

He was a member of the Owls Club in Hagerstown, Md.

He liked fishing, word search puzzles, watching wrestling and NASCAR.

Surviving are his wife, Dolly Ann Eader McCumbee, at home; his children, Crystal Goodrich, Greencastle, Pa., William McCumbee III, Hancock, Kenneth Mc- Cumbee, Dagsboro, Del., Stacy Caldwell, Berkeley Springs and Holly McCumbee, Warfordsburg, Pa.; two sisters, Candace McPeak and Candace McCumbee, both of Winchester, Va.; one brother, Lenue McCumbee, Berkeley Springs; 17 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Christine McCumbee and one grandson, Nathan McCumbee.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 7 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Steve Dawson officiated. Interment was private.
