Veterans Day events honor those who served

The Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60 in Berkeley Springs will hold its annual Veteran’s Day service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 11.

Veterans, their families and the public are welcome to attend. The event is a salute to retired and current active military personnel and shows appreciation for the service of veterans, said 1st Vice Commander Dan Duckwall.

The Veterans Day program includes guest speaker retired U.S. Army Command Major Harold Hunt, Sr., patriotic songs, the Tri-State Honor Guard salute, a wreath-laying ceremony and a benediction by Post 60 Chaplain Christy Duckwall. Several veterans will receive Quilts of Valor from the Morgan County chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. The ceremony will be followed by light refreshments.

American Legion Post 60 is located at 527 N. Washington Street in Berkeley Springs.

The Harley Bohrer American Legion Post 128 in Paw Paw will have a Veterans Day dinner for local veterans and their families on Saturday, November 11 starting at 6 p.m. There will be a small program that will include a performance of the national anthem.

The Risinger-Stotler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4019 in Berkeley Springs will hold a dinner for veterans and their families on Saturday, November 11 starting at 1 p.m. VFW Post 4019 is located at 4490 Valley Road in Berkeley Springs.

Berkeley Springs High School will hold a Veterans Day tribute event tomorrow, Thursday, November 9 at 1:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Retired Chief Master Sergeant Les Morris will emcee the program, which includes guest speakers Chief Master
