Blues Band rounds out summer concert series

Energy runs high as Baltimore’s Kelly Bell Band offers blues at the Berkeley Springs State Park on Saturday, August 19, 5:30 p.m. in the final performance for this summer’s Concerts in the Park series from the Morgan Arts Council. Voted the Best Blues Band in the Mid-Atlantic Region 12 years in a row, the band, known for phat blues, combines elements of hip-hop, funk, and electrified blues, for a sound that reflects the way blues is moving today. Formed as a backup band for Bo Diddley, the Kelly Bell Band has been playing and recording for 20 years. The Ice House, corner of Independence and Mercer serves as the rain location. Sponsors for the series are Atasia Spa, Best Western Berkeley Springs Inn, Heath Studio Gallery, Lot 12 Public House and The Naked Olive, with additional support from the National Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the Arts and local hotel-motel tax revenues. For more information call 304-258-2300.
