School board selects May as interim superintendent

The Morgan County School Board announced the selection of Erich May as their successful finalist for interim School Superintendent at an 11 a.m. special meeting this morning, Wednesday, July 19.  The board voted unanimously to approve May as interim Superintendent through June 30, 2018. May has been the Principal of McConnellsburg Middle-High School in Fulton County, Pa.

Board members said they were impressed with all three finalists for the post – May, Rhonda McPherson-Wilder and Jamie Harris. McPherson-Wilder is the Berkeley Springs High School special education multi-categorical with autism/math teacher. Harris is the school system’s new director of Human Resources and Maintenance.

Board members had said previously the search for a permanent superintendent will begin January 1, 2018. School Superintendent David Banks tendered his resignation from the post last month and is taking a position with Berkeley County Schools.

Board President Dave Ambrose said today that officials were very pleased with May as a candidate and felt he will be a very good match for Morgan County Schools.

Full coverage about the decision and May's experience will appear in the next print edition of The Messenger.

Researched Mr. May - he seems

Researched Mr. May - he seems very qualified for the position, both educationally and experience. He doesn't come from a "huge" school background so should fit in very well here in MoCo. Welcome Mr May.
