Free Concerts in the Park opens with Carsie Blanton

Carsie Blanton takes the stage to open Morgan Arts Council’s Summer Concerts in the Park, Saturday, July 8. This two-person group from New Orleans shakes it up with pop music infused with jazz and even a little Broadway-style panache. Carsie Blanton’s performances are noted for their wit, humor and captivating charm: they make you laugh and best of all, make you dance. Carsie Blanton has toured extensively in North America and Europe as a headliner and as support for Paul Simon, The Wood Brothers, The Weepies, Shawn Colvin and many others. All concerts start at 5:30 p.m. The Ice House, corner of Independence and Mercer, two blocks north of the park, serves as the rain location. Sponsors for the series are Atasia Spa, Best Western Berkeley Springs Inn, Heath Studio Gallery, Lot 12 Public House and The Naked Olive, with additional support from the National Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the Arts and local hotel-motel tax revenues. The free concert series continues Saturdays through August 19. For detailed information on the concert series call 304-258-2300.
