William R. Michael


William Robert “Dub” Michael, 86, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his home.

Born October 2, 1930 in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Harold and Jeffrey Ambrose Michael.

He was a Christian.

He attended schools in Morgan County.

He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on August 24, 1951.

He worked for General Motors for 25 years as a checker.

He was a member of the Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 and the Berkeley Springs Moose Lodge #1483.

He liked NASCAR and watching the Cowboys football team.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn May Kuykendall Michael, at home; one son, Scott Banks, Stephens City, Va.; three sisters, Ruella Brannon and Diane Bolinger, both of Cross Junction, Va. and Lavana Miller, Berkeley Springs; one brother, Junior Michael, Hagerstown, Md.; five grandchildren, Ashleigh Darlington, Parsons, Brittaney Lucas, Cranberry Township, Pa., Eric Banks, Martinsburg, Blake Smith and Wesley Smith, both of Winchester, Va. and seven great-granddaughters.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, July 1, at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Lynnie C. Ambrose officiated. Burial was private.
