Cuts affect caregivers

Dear Editor:

Men, with a little bit of luck you’ll grow old and remain healthy, but you could be a terrible burden to your family if you’re sick.

Congress is planning to make major cuts in Medicaid funding. Two-thirds of Medicaid supports services to the elderly: nursing homes, home health care and community based programs.

Unless we get Congress to change its plans, your children, particularly your daughters, will struggle to meet your needs. Why daughters? They’ll be home trying to care for you with poor medical and service support. Also, they will not be able to work to help meet family financial needs. Is this the life you want for your daughters?

Call your Senators now to prevent Medicaid cuts.
