Merki keeps mayor’s seat in Bath election

According to the preliminary election results for the Town of Bath council, voters on Tuesday selected the following to serve the town beginning July 1:

Mayor Scott Merki won his second term in the mayoral race with 82 votes and beat challenger Michelle Ritchie, who had 22 votes.

The Town Recorder spot was an open seat and was won by former Bath mayor Susan Webster with 70 votes. Councilwoman Tiffany “Peace” White, who also ran for Town Recorder, had 40 votes.

 Four council incumbents were re-elected with Andy Swaim earning 81votes; Rick Weber with 80 votes; Elizabeth Skinner with 73 votes and Chris Chapman with 73 votes.

Newcomer Rose Jackson earned the fifth council position with 75 votes.

 Polls were open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and a full ballot count was completed by 10:33      p.m.

 Final vote counts will be certified by town officials following an official canvass on Monday, June 19. For more information call Town Hall at 304-258-1102.
