Mill location identified

Fred Henry, Ralph Michael and Ann Riggleman filled us in on some details about the flour bag photo we published in the May 31 edition with a request for information.

Henry and Riggleman said the Angle Roller Mills Co. had a flour mill on the corner of U.S. 522 and St. George Street in downtown Berkeley Springs. The tall metal mill was torn down and on that site, the Hovermale family built a brick produce warehouse that operated through the 1980’s. STS International now occupies that building.

Henry said his brother-inlaw, Herbert Braithwaite, worked at the flour mill. He believes the mill was there in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s but was unsure when it closed and was razed.
