Where was the flour milled?



Mickey Richard Thompson, Jr. of Hancock bought this paper flour sack at a Needmore, Pa. auction recently. Since then, he’s been trying to find out any information about the Angle Roller Mills Co. of Berkeley Springs. After asking a few local folks, he’s come up short. Birth: Mar. 13, 1900 Morgan County West Virginia, USA Death: May 21, 1988 Berkeley Springs Morgan County West Virginia, USA Alston Boyd Iden, 88, of 607 Harrison Ave., Berkeley Springs, died Friday, May 13, 1988, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital. Born March 21, 1900, in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Champion and Carrie Bohrer Iden. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Fearnow Iden in 1926. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as deacon, treasurer, historian and Sunday school teacher. He formerly managed the Angle Roller Mills, he worked at Fairchild Industries. He was assessor of Morgan County from 1962-1966. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Hewett Iden, at home; four daughters, Anna Marie Somers, of Falston, MD, Peggy Michael and Barbara Yost, both of Berkeley Springs and Carol Sue Sterling of Yardley, PA; a son, J.D. Iden of Woodbine, MD; a sister, Jeffrey Busey, of Berkeley Springs; a brother, Jeff B. Iden, of Clarksburg; 12 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Services were held Monday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Funkhouser and the Rev. Henry Fisher officiating. Burial was in Greenway Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.
