Paw Paw High School Valedictorian & Salutatorian

Nineteen Paw Paw High School seniors bid farewell to their first 13 years of education Friday, May 26, during commencement exercises. The guests were welcomed by senior, Amanda Benson and greeted by Principal Melinda Kasekamp.

The class of 2017 announced their Valedictorian and Salutatorian last week.

Zack Arthur Harrold is the Valedictorian of the class of 2017 at Paw Paw High School.

Hannah Leach is the Salutatorian of the class of 2017 at Paw Paw High School.

Harrold is the son of Robert and Dawn Harrold of Great Cacapon.

He was a member of the Paw Paw Marching Band, Student Council, STEM Club, Technology Student Association, National Honor Society, Varsity Cross Country team captain three years, basketball, baseball and track teams, earning 11 Varsity Letters, All- Conference and All-Area Honors. He participated in the County and Regional Math Field Day multiple years, the School Science Fair, raised the school flags every morning and was on the A-Honor Roll all four years. During his junior and senior years, he concurrently took classes at Allegany College of Maryland in Cumberland.

Harrold will be attending West Virginia University. He received a direct admission into their Athletic Coaching Education Program and the Honors College. He is the recipient of the WVU Scholarship of Distinction and the WV PROMISE Scholarship.

In preparation for his future coaching career, he began coaching youth basketball two years ago. He has also volunteered with the Paw Paw Youth League baseball program as the scoreboard operator and field umpire. He is an avid blood donor with the American Red Cross and assisted with the organization of local blood drives in connection with the Student Council and the Paw Paw Lions Club.

Leach is the daughter of Nellie Leach and the late David Leach of Great Cacapon.

During high school she liked art and playing volleyball.

She plans to pursue a certification in cosmetology at Star Beauty in Winchester, Va., starting in June.
