Paw Paw Memorial Day Parade this Saturday

Paw Paw Memorial Day Parade will be held Saturday, May 27, 1 p.m. with Grand Marshals Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., Morgan County EMS and Paw Paw Town Police.

The Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. was established in 1937 and was incorporated in 1938. This year Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. is celebrating their 80th anniversary.

The Volunteer Fire Company has been a strictly volunteer company for the past 80 years. Over the years, their membership has been comprised of many veterans, many of which have served foreign wars. Today’s membership consists of active military men and women that are serving the country in various branches of the military as well as dedicated community volunteers.

The Volunteer Fire Company has been stationed within the town of Paw Paw for the past 80 years. In 1937 they were located on Winchester Street and are currently located on Moser Avenue.

The volunteers provided fire and EMS services to the town of Paw Paw and surrounding areas until July 2016. Currently the volunteers only provide fire services to the town of Paw Paw and surrounding areas.

They currently have a fleet of six emergency vehicles, including a 1986 Pierce Engine, 1995 EONE Engine, 2004 Pierce Rescue Engine, 2000 4Guys Tanker, 2003 Ford Brush Truck and 1993 Chevy Utility vehicle.

Morgan County EMS

Morgan County EMS began staffing an Advanced Life Support ambulance full time in Paw Paw on July 1, 2016. Now that a unit is staffed in the Western section of the county, residents receive advanced life-saving care quicker than ever.

Since July 2016, Morgan County EMS has responded to approximately 350 service calls in the area. EMS has a working relationship with the Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.

Paw Paw Police Department

The Paw Paw Town Police Department consists of Chief of Police Justin Jenkins and Patrolman Randy Poffinburger. Jenkins has been with the Town of Paw Paw for almost one year and Poffinburger started with the department four weeks ago. Both officers protect the Town of Paw Paw full time. Jenkins has been in the police force for 11 years and worked for Shepherdstown Police Department. Poffinburger was in the Navy for eight years and then worked for Morgan County Animal Control for three and a half years.
