Administrator Bill Kearns said the department began moving Friday morning, May 19, from its offices on Green Street at the old Senior Center building.

Instead of paying a moving company to help the department move, Kearns said local volunteers helped with the heavy lifting.

“The community looks out for the health department,” he said.

The department plans to show the new space with an open house, Kearns said.

The county health department had been on Green Street since the early 1980s, according to former Morgan County Commissioner Brown Norton and former Morgan County Health Department employee Glenna Henry.
