Four running for mayor in Paw Paw election

On June 13, residents of the Town of Paw Paw will elect a mayor and full council, minus the Town Recorder position.

As of May 10, four individuals had filed as candidates for the mayor’s position, currently held by Alton Wolfe. Another eight had filed as candidates to fill five council seats.

There are roughly 400 registered voters in Paw Paw.

Running for a four-year term as mayor are former mayor Eldridge Kerns, councilman Tim Mose, Zach Thomas and incumbent Alton Wolfe. Wolfe is serving his fourth term as mayor.

Eight people are seeking seats on the Paw Paw council.

Council members serve a two-year term and earn $50 per meeting. The council meets on the first Tuesday of the month.

Running for re-election to council are Earl Meyers Jr. and Robert Rowzee. Others seeking seats on the council are: Betty Jo Henry, Seth Corbett, Karen Braithwaite, David T. Clark, Carol J. Morrison and Bill Hayes Jr. Several of the candidates are former council members. Clark also served as mayor previously.
