Carolyn A. Kelley

1934-2017

Carolyn Ann Kelley, age 83, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, April 28, 2017 at The Berkeley Springs Center LLC.

Born February 12, 1934 in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Hudson Lawrence, Sr. and Gertrude Mae Kight Yost.

She was a former member of Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church where she had served as a Deacon and Elder. She was also active in the Presbyterian Women and the 4 cents a Meal Program. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Carolyn was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Berkeley Chapter #77 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Lunch Bunch of the Class of 1952, Berkeley Springs High School.

She retired from the order department of U.S. Silica in March of 1991 and had also worked with Potomac Edison and as a clerk at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital.

She was a volunteer with the Morgan County Public Schools PASS Program.

Carolyn was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Francie Kay Fansler of Berkeley Springs and her special friend, Donnie Hamrick; her son, Michael Glenn Kelley and his wife Betty, of Berkeley Springs; two grandchildren, Michael Brian Kelley and his wife Noel of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Katherine Lynn Mullen and her husband Joseph of Winchester, Va.; three great grandchildren, Kelley Elizabeth Mullen and Sarah Katherine Mullen, both of Winchester and Liam Ash Kelley of Mechanicsburg; her dear friends, Sandy Friend of Great Cacapon, W.Va., Debbie Balut of Hedgesville, W.Va., and June Mills of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Glenn “Mike” Kelley on February 9, 2009; her sister, Iva Lee Ambrose; two brothers, Hudson Lawrence “Summie” Yost, Jr. and Cleo “Tink” Yost and her son-in-law, David Fansler.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Kenny Mason officiating. Private interment was in Greenway Cemetery.

The family received friends from noon–2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home where there was an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 1:45 p.m.
