Braithwaite’s 31 points leads Pirates to win over Hundred

The Paw Paw Pirates hosted Hundred High School in boys’ basketball action on Monday, February 6. Paw Paw was in search of its 11th win of the season and they used a big first half run to put away the visitors from Hundred.

In the first quarter, Paw Paw took a 16-6 lead and by the half was in control of the game with a 38-20 score.

In the third quarter, the Pirates outscored Hundred 20-18 to up their lead to 58-38. In the final quarter Paw Paw (11-5) scored 15 more points to cruise to the 73-57 win.

This was the seventh time this season the highly explosive Pirate offense has scored 70 or more points in a game.

The Pirates Christian Braithwaite had a monster game with 31 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. Landon Ridgeway (11 points), Matt Kidwell (10 points), Ernie Swartz (seven points and six rebounds), Austin Bullett (seven points), Jon Wolfe (four points) and Nick Hiett (three points) all played a huge role in the Paw Paw victory.

In the Junior Varsity game Coby Ridgeway’s 19 points and Dylan Moreland’s 16 points helped lead the Paw Paw junior varsity team to a 52-27 win over Hundred. Hiett (eight points) and Wolfe (six points) also contributed to the Paw Paw scoring.

Last Tuesday, February 7 the Pirates traveled to Hyndman, Pa. to take on Hyndman Charter School. Using a balanced attack Paw Paw recorded its 12th win of the season with a 55-43 victory. No stats were available for this game.
