When FDR came to The Pines



In May 1935, U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt visited children who were patients at The Pines home in Berkeley Springs, which treated victims of the polio epidemic. Roosevelt, himself afflicted by the disease, was the nation’s 32nd President.
